ZeroQuantum, a South Korean Engineering company that specialise in certain gaming technologies put forward a intuitive project to begin development on.

 

Their ideas were to reinvent a saturated market and add some amazing new ways to interact, not only with games and online activities, but to add extra experiences and infinite progressive ways to make every version of a handheld device unique, personable and completely engaging.

 

ZQ, a relatively new company steps forward on the scene and introduces DEFY™, an AI driven gaming platform that has been developed from the ground up, to cater solely for indy teams to showcase a new way to game.

ZeroQuantum Engineering

Developing specialised support hardware and software for the South Korean market. The company has helped create several online technologies to further gaming servers, hardware and nanotechnology.

 

They have recently begun development on a new gaming handheld system and user platform.

3D Conceptual Design

 

Whilst ZQ concentrated on the hard/software side, they approached various designers to create concepts across a vast array of aesthetics and front end designs.

 

NGON had already produced some work for the company a few years prior and were on the list to develop some visualisation renders of the final shell of the device once it had been finalised.

 

But going one step further, NGON put forward some design ideas that gradually won over their hearts and were acted upon.

 

The design took inspiration from handheld consoles of the 90’s, specifically the Gameboy SP, who whole flip aspect and feel of this device was pretty cool and compact back then and the idea was to take note but keep the screen visible for several aspects, including on-the-go quick browsing, AI/TV interaction mode, stats and messaging.

Intro Cinematic

 

Whilst in early stages, ZQ wanted to get a teaser out there to show off the look and feel before going into the next stage of development and asked for a cool, little cinematic to be produced to touch on some of the sexy lines and elements.

 

There’s 4 versions of DEFY™ and the aim was to give each of them a personality of their own. Igneous for the hardcore gamer, solid and birthed from deep within. Nix for the clean cut design enthusiast, allowing its curves to show through. Lucid for the pure fun, governed by intellectual simplicity. And finally Edge, for those that love future technology and strive to cut through.
