Johnnie Walker x Blade Runner 2049
2——– The Initial Material
In 2049, bioengineered humans known as replicants are slaves. K, a Nexus-9 replicant, works for the Los Angeles Police Department as a “blade runner,” an officer who hunts and “retires” rogue replicants.
The original 70’s experience featured a short discussion over a bottle of Johnnie Walker, that had been designed as a glimpse of what the brand could look like in the future.
LOVE had previously proposed that Diageo put forward a pitch for the same principle to appear in the sequel. Production went ahead and LOVE designed the iconic brand a new cinematic face. NGON then produced a reveal animatic to the launch, designing the visuals to express nothing but neon light changes. NGON then created the soundtrack to go with it, to have a distinct futuristic feel, with tones of 80’s movie blockbuster. Finally (literally) boxing off the design with the packaging cover artwork.
